Imagining our next presiding bishop

10/14/2022

The Episcopal Church Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop invites all Episcopalians to participate in a survey. The responses will help the committee develop a profile of the skills, qualities and gifts the church seeks in its next presiding bishop, considering what the church and world may look like in the next decade. The church’s General Convention will elect the next presiding bishop in the summer of 2024.
The deadline for completing the survey — which can be found online at
https://www.generalconvention.org/jncepb-survey in English, French, and Spanish
— is Oct. 31.

VACATIONS, RENEWAL, PREPARATIONS

Sunday services continue with Choral Eucharist and Morning Prayer. We are grateful for Rev. Sharon who has gone out into Boonton to meet the local community groups, who is guiding us through transitions and getting us back to activities sidelined by Covid restrictions. Robert, our hardworking choir director and organist will be on vacation all of August.
The vestry is back in session. We are preparing for the fall. Here are some of the things we have on the agenda:
  • Finishing the Wilson House-it looks wonderful
  • The Welcome Back Picnic
  • St. Francis day and the Blessing of the Animals
  • Boonton Day
  • Saturday Luncheon Social
  • Stewardship
  • Planning the Worship season with the Altar Guild and all our new members.
There is so much more going on with maintenance of the building, cleaning and care of the buildings, preparing and planning. If you don't hear from us, we have our heads down getting ready for a thriving, busy fall season. See you in September.

This June 5th we said goodbye to Rev. Barry and Bruce. We thank them for all they have done for St. John's over the past three plus years, as they have seen us through our period of transition and the added stress of Covid!
